Brunch

Dubai’s Friday tradition is brunch.

New Yorkers brunch on Sundays. Bermudians brunch on Sundays. Londoners never make it out of bed before lunch times at the weekends so invariably have a late lunch for breakfast which could be classed as brunch.

Dubai-ites have Friday brunch, and I am guessing very little in the world compares.

Today, I am celebrating my birthday at Al Qsar’s brunch. Widely recognised as the biggest of the brunch offerings, it’s a firm favourite, from the champagne (not sparking wine) on arrival, to stumbling off your Choo’s on the way out.

For AED525 (just under £100), you get to drink (alcohol of every imaginable combination) and eat (anything you can see from their award winning, 5* restaurants), in the highest quantity you can manage, between the hours of 12.30 and 4pm.

The die hard brunchers even stock up on beverages pre-last orders, so they don’t have to move anywhere until gone 5. Why? Because bars (most of them anyway) are dry between 4pm and 6pm. It is the holy day afterall!

It’s a binger’s paradise.

So, I will take pictures all day, and post tomorrow. This place has to be seen to be believed!

(Ok… Tomorrow may be a bit optimistic as the day after brunch is always a write off for me!!)

Work

I used to be able to gossip(/bitch!) about work, and co-workers, now I can’t.

Firstly, my boss is lovely. She is tough, and will tell you straight when she is unhappy, but I completely respect that. She is a really nice person and doing a fantastic job.

Secondly, I like the work I am doing. I am working longer hours than I ever have before (by double from my Bda days!), but I am more productive and using years of experience to help a good cause.

Thirdly, my co-workers are lovely!

Finally, because of the work I do, I have a huge confidentiality clause in my contract, so can’t talk about most of it!

Oh well… I will just need to start finding something else to moan about. Anyone want to hear about the weather?!?!

Blogging

I started a new blog on Sunday, because I want to be completely anonymous.  Don’t worry… it’s nothing I could get in trouble for or anything, but just like a diary I guess so I don’t want people I know to read it!

My question is this…. how long does it take for someone to find it!?  Not that I am asking you to search for it.  In fact, just the opposite.  I just was thinking about it because I have been writing daily for 5 days, and not one view!

Mind you, I don’t really get why people read this one either given that I hardly ever remember to post, and it’s all rather dull when I do!

Site Stats

I have just discovered the coolest new tool on here!

I somehow managed to click on stats (which I hadn’t found before!) and not only does it tell you how often you have been viewed, and breaks it down to posts (295 on my busiest day – random!), but now it even tells you which country your viewers have come from!

Random, but super cool!

A Touch of Kindness!

So, it was my birthday yesterday. I have come into work today, and am working my behind off, as normal. But then the two housemaids came into my “office”, and they had a gift for me. They had clubbed together to get me a bracelet for my birthday. It’s nearly broken me! I am not a “happy crier”. Crying is reserved solely for negative emotions, but the fact they have so little, but have thought to get me a gift, has bought tears to my eyes. Their kindness is overwhelming. It may not be my style, but it is the best birthday gift I have received for years. My heart is truly warmed by them. ❤
