“Near” The Top – Burj Khalifa

I’ve been in Dubai over 5yrs now, and I’ve never been up the Burj Khalifa in daylight.  To be entirely honest, it’s not really interested me.  I know what Dubai looks like having flown over it, and quite frankly, I think it’s prettier at night.

Had to be done!

Albert of course hadn’t been up it ever so it was time to try something new!

At The Top is the official viewing deck for the Burj Khalifa.  I could spout all the facts at you about it, but that’s boring and I don’t know them.  I don’t retain numbers but it’s buggery high!  Also, the viewing floors we went to are on 124 and 125.  The bar that I normal go to is on 122 and 123, I think?  Like I said, numbers are not my thing!

I know it’s bloody high though and we were super lucky to be up there on a clear day.  Also we were very lucky that despite only having about 4hrs sleep, we were at the 8.30am tour start.  It was so hot up there (the first section is open air) that I wouldn’t have coped in the midday heat!

The best part of the whole experience were the photographers though.  They clearly don’t see past a boy and a girl together therefore had Albert and I in absolute stitches with some of our “romantic” poses.  I honestly haven’t laughed that much in a long time.

Unless something brilliant flashes into my mind as I am choosing a few photos to share with you, that’s the end of my words.  There isn’t much more to say.  You go up, you look around, you take pictures, you have photos taken of you, and you come back down!!

Wait! I thought of something else… Our tickets were AED 125 each which gives you access to floors 124 and 125. They are available on Groupon but you only save AED 5 and that’s not enough for all the faffing around! There are other options including one which costs AED 500 and takes you up to the lounge on floor 148. I can’t really see the point but wouldn’t turn down the ticket it someone gave me it!

Ok… Photo time…

This is just in Dubai Mall.  It’s a great ceiling though so I thought I would share!

Downtown Dubai, Dubai Mall, The Fountains, Souk Al Bahar and the Palace Hotel, from a very different angle to the one we are used to!
