I was just on Instagram having a little chat with the marvelously talented and beautiful Cara of RainyBayBlog (hello!) about self promotion. She made a wonderful post about her many accomplishments and how proud she was of herself. She mentioned that she felt a bit “cringy” about being so vocal and we both agreed that it’s something people need to do more often.
As a rule people are much more likely to list the things they can’t do rather than things they can. Brits especially. It’s viewed as bragging or being boastful and is left to pretty much every other culture to do. If you’re a Brit and a women, it’s a near impossibility.
As an expat I have seen this over and over. I have so many friends that have asked me to Continue reading
As anyone who knows me or has seen my photo knows, I carry a few extra lbs on my frame. Or rather a lot. Depending on which photo you have seen! Currently however, my weight has rocketed and I don’t like it at all. I am uncomfortable and unhappy and so I decided I needed to try something new.
The winner of my “what shall I do next” decisions was The GM Diet.
Legend has it that the bosses of General Motors were worried about the health of their staff as a number had some extra weight. They got together with nutritionists and devised a plan to help kick start their weight loss journey.
I’m not going to set it all out here. If you want to know about it, read Continue reading
7.30am – Snuggle back down into duvet as no breakfast making means longer lay in.
7.45am – Go waste time in the shower.
8.00am – Start Juice 1 shots.
8.01am – Get pleasant surprise that the juice tastes better today.
8.23am – Have last shot. Continue reading
8.00am – The Boy has charged off to Freshii in an excited whir to pick up our juices.
8.01am – Decide to hide in the shower for a bit longer.
8.15am – He is back and I’m getting nagged to come and have breakfast.
8.16am – I hate this week already.
8.20am – My drinking days have finally lead to something useful. This nasty poopy looking juice is much more palatable if taken like a shot. Continue reading
I have so many words today that this could be a jumbled mess that I never remember the actual starting point for. On the plus side it won’t be as bad as it could be as it’s first thing in the morning and so there is no wine involved.
I was sat on my couch last night when a BBC News Alert binged my phone. Because of the regularity of famous people dying last year, The Boy always asks “who has died this time” when he hears it. This time no one – yet. Continue reading
I would like to give a shout out to Claw in Souk Al Bahar, which is consistently good. So few places are anymore. From the food to the team; there is no bad here as far as I can tell.
I had a bit of a rubbish day so to cheer me up The Boy took me to lunch. He knows that Claw will always work instantly. They have pork ribs. I am so easy to please.
This time though I decided to be different. Check me being all brave and darey!! Continue reading
I am not a huge fan of partying in the New Year. I would much rather have a nice meal or some nice nibbles at home. New Year’s Eve also happens to be my little sister’s birthday so it’s more of a family time than a party time.
This year was no exception. I didn’t want to go into town, despite very glamorous offers. I just wanted to stay home, see my sister in the day and then have a nice meal with The Boy and my Mum.
So that’s just what we did. At my favourite Indian restaurant in the world. Literally!
Introducing Sara and Raja who are Continue reading
