So it turns out that there is a really good reason that I don’t drink during the week. I am too old and my hangovers are way too bad. That said, I had such a great night at the Firebird Diner that I only marginally care how rough I feel right now!
Firebird Diner is the American style offering from the Four Seasons at DIFC. It’s a concept done to death in my mind and most fall way short of the mark. Not so much this place. It’s decor is bright and clean, and well, American Diner style. I don’t know what else to say really!
What I do know I am going to say is that their Ladies Night offering, Burgers & Bubbles, is Continue reading
Yeah, I did two ladies nights in two days. I am a beast. I am getting them both out there though so that I can have space to blog about a rather good weekend that’s coming up too!!!
Cook Hall is the American gastro pub (agreed – gastro pubs should be British) at the Westin in Al Habtoor City. It was quite an exciting find really. I’ve not been to anything in the new cluster of hotels, and so there was the excitement of catching up with Carla, and there was also exploring somewhere new!
It was FUN! I really liked it. It’s insides I would describe as “industrial chic” and there were very “Gaucho” cushions in the booths. The booths themselves are very high backed so you don’t get disturbed by the party behind you, and they are actually super comfortable which is surprising!
The team are great. I have ice in my wine because I like it very cold. normally I have to ask over and over again, but this guy (whose name escapes me due to aforementioned wine) remembered every time! He is a gem!! Continue reading
It’s been quite a while since I went to Nezesaussi Grill at the Manzil Hotel, Downtown. At least 6 months, I’m sure. Good news is that it’s still great! Just thought I would let you know!!
(P.S. Whilst googling how to spell this venue’s name, I have discovered there is one now in the Marina too. I wonder if they have the same offers? I will leave that for you to work out because the marina is faaaaaaar!)
I’ve got to work out how to take better menu pictures! Also, there is steak/salmon too.
The Tuesday Ladies Night offer still remains the same. Continue reading
As you will have heard by now, The Ivy in Emirates Towers is closing it’s doors on 31st December. There are a myriad of rumours going around as to why this is happening, none of which I am going to repeat on here as some of them could be slightly libelous at best!!
What I can tell you is that it just feels like they no longer care. Why do I say that? Well, Ladies Night. I went last week and had the worst meal I have every had there. By far.
The Ladies Night menu consists of a 3 course meal and 4 glasses of wine for AED 199 which is an absolute bargain. Or, it used to be. Now it’s just a bit embarrassing. Portion sizes have been cut down so dramatically that you really are thankful for the bowl of bread at the beginning of the meal.
For example, this is their prawn cocktail starter: Continue reading
It’s time to try
I think I’ll try
And you can’t pull me down!
That’s the chorus of the song I had stuck in my head for DAYS before going to Zero Gravity at Sky Dive Dubai! You would think that would get annoying, but it didn’t! Haha!!
(I had to share that part because I know it will get stuck in other people’s heads and it will drive them nuts!)
Back to my point: Continue reading
I had heard rumour of their ladies night offer, and it sounded too good to miss out on.
Here’s the deal: On Tuesday nights ladies spend AED 50 on drinks and receive their main meal for free, if under AED 120 at full price.
So, we did! I had the delicious ribs and Mum had an absolutely divine steak that I will be having next Tuesday!!
I have nothing to complain about. No remarks. Just that I want that steak!!!
Ambiance: 6/10 (It’s a sports bar after all, and I don’t get sports!!)
Service: 7/10 (because it’s busy, so they can’t be as attentive!)
Value for Money: 10/10
Cost: AED 132 for 2 diet 7up, 2 glasses of wine and a bottle of water. Bargain! Meals were completely free.
