Brunch at Coya

Hello everyone!  I’m back… sort of.  I never meant to be away.  It just kind of happened.  I ran out of words again.

But thanks to my friend’s birthday brunch at Coya this weekend, I have plenty!

Coya is the Four Season’s Peruvian offering, and I’ve heard some really good things about it.  I’ve also heard some less than impressive things.  I went very briefly when it first opened for one of their much discussed cocktails it was absolutely Continue reading

Burgers & Bubbles

So it turns out that there is a really good reason that I don’t drink during the week.  I am too old and my hangovers are way too bad.  That said, I had such a great night at the Firebird Diner that I only marginally care how rough I feel right now!

Firebird Diner is the American style offering from the Four Seasons at DIFC.  It’s a concept done to death in my mind and most fall way short of the mark.  Not so much this place.  It’s decor is bright and clean, and well, American Diner style.  I don’t know what else to say really!

What I do know I am going to say is that their Ladies Night offering, Burgers & Bubbles, is Continue reading

A Very Versace Weekend – Pt.2

As you may have read in “A Very Versace Weekend – Pt.1“, I had an absolutely splendid day by the East Wing pool and then brunch at Giardino.  It was so good that I had a serious need to try out their other pool and lunch experience!

Thanks to the Entertainer’s fabulous 241 offers and The Boy’s willingness to try anything at any time, even on a moment’s notice, we headed back to the Palazzo Versace at 9am on Saturday morning.  The offer this time was pool time in the West Wing, followed by a buffet lunch at Amalfi restaurant.

One thing I am always super aware of when I am going anywhere with people is that just because I have been before doesn’t mean they have, and as such, Continue reading

A Very Versace Weekend – Pt.1

I’m an Aunty again!  My wonderful sister had her third child on Wednesday and he is utterly divine!  Naturally this had to be celebrated, and so we celebrated in expat style… with a brunch!

There are so many on offer at the moment that it was a tough choice, but after reading Lil One Of The Ashes review on Giardino it became a lot easier.  A brunch with pool access is combining two of my favourite things… even more so when The Entertainer’s monthly offers has a 241 voucher!

6am Friday morning I was up and fretting though.  What do you wear to the Palazzo Versace when you’re not even a plus size model shape?  (Plus size?  They are a UK12.  That’s called human.  Grr!)

The answer came to me in a blinding flash of inspiration: Continue reading

“Souq al Bahar 4 Fish”

I woke at 5am in a real huff.  I have no clue why.  Perhaps I had been having an enraging dream or something?  It’s highly possible as I am a compulsive dreamer.  Whatever the reason was though, there was no going back to sleep.  I went through Facebook, and Instagram, and caught up on my blog reading.  I even went on Twitter but that really is my least favourite social media app currently.  By 6am I had finished with those and even playing Boggle and Words with Friends against the app.

Don’t you hate it when your day starts like that!?

It did however rapidly get better as I ended up convincing The Boy that it would be a great time to get up and dressed, and head to the fish market that one of my friends had discovered the other day! Continue reading

Ladies Night at Cook Hall!

Yeah, I did two ladies nights in two days.  I am a beast.  I am getting them both out there though so that I can have space to blog about a rather good weekend that’s coming up too!!!

Cook Hall is the American gastro pub (agreed – gastro pubs should be British) at the Westin in Al Habtoor City.  It was quite an exciting find really.  I’ve not been to anything in the new cluster of hotels, and so there was the excitement of catching up with Carla, and there was also exploring somewhere new!

It was FUN!  I really liked it.  It’s insides I would describe as “industrial chic” and there were very “Gaucho” cushions in the booths.  The booths themselves are very high backed so you don’t get disturbed by the party behind you, and they are actually super comfortable which is surprising!

The team are great.  I have ice in my wine because I like it very cold.  normally I have to ask over and over again, but this guy (whose name escapes me due to aforementioned wine) remembered every time!  He is a gem!! Continue reading

Ladies Night at Nezzas!

It’s been quite a while since I went to Nezesaussi Grill at the Manzil Hotel, Downtown.  At least 6 months, I’m sure.  Good news is that it’s still great!  Just thought I would let you know!!

(P.S.  Whilst googling how to spell this venue’s name, I have discovered there is one now in the Marina too.  I wonder if they have the same offers?  I will leave that for you to work out because the marina is faaaaaaar!)

I’ve got to work out how to take better menu pictures! Also, there is steak/salmon too.

The Tuesday Ladies Night offer still remains the same.   Continue reading
